Ray Rice Will Appeal Suspension
Ray Rice has been recently cut, suspended, and outcasted by the NFL within a seven day time span. This morning Rice is back in the media cycle, after announcing he will appeal his indefinite suspension from the NFL.
ProFootballTalk reported that Rice is expected to claim that he told the Ravens and the NFL the truth about his altercation with Palmer and that he is being punished twice for the same offense.
Following an offseason domestic violence arrest for an incident that occurred at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J., in February, Ray Rice was initially suspended only two games by the NFL in July.
Last Monday, TMZ released a disturbing video, this video showed Rice hitting his then fiance in the face twice; knocking her out almost instantly.
In the hours after the release of the video, the Baltimore Ravens released Rice, and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.
"This video shows a starkly different sequence of events from what you and your representatives stated when we met on June 16,and is important new information that warrants reconsideration of the discipline imposed on you in
July."
"Based on this new information, I have concluded that the discipline imposed upon you in July was insufficient under all the circumstances and have determined instead to impose an indefinite suspension."-NFL Comissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a letter received by the NFLPA on Friday "
With Roger Goodell's job being called into question you can expect this appeal process to become very messy immediately. The NFL has more pressure than ever from the outside world, after the way they have handled domestic violence cases.
