This weekend the undefeated RPI Engineers football teams host the Hobart Statesmen in Division 3 football action at noon in Troy. If RPI defeats Hobart they would be the likely favorite to win the Liberty League for a second consecutive season. Last year the Engineers qualified for the NCAA playoffs before falling to Wesley 45-27 in the opening round. The matchup between the Statesmen and Engineers in the past has proven to provide the league champion. In each of the past seven seasons, either Hobart or RPI has either won outright or shared a league title. Since 2003, either Hobart or RPI has won/shared the league title 11 times.  RPI's undefeated record has been due in large part to the success of a former Section 2 product. Former Guilderland quarterback George Marinopoulos has led the Engineers this season. The Statesmen from Geneva this season have been led by former Shaker high school stand out Matt Woods.
