It was a bittersweet day for Siena volleyball on Sunday. While they may have won their match against St. Peter's, they were eliminated from MAAC Tournament play and seniors Taylor Akana and Kelly Hurlburt played their last match as Saints.

The Saints swept St. Peter's 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 to finish their season at 14-14 overall and an impressive 13-5 in the MAAC. Akana led the squad with 14 kills, finishing her career with 1,700. Setter Haley Howell led the team with 36 assists.

Unfortunately, though, it wasn't enough for the Saints as a Fairfield victory over Canisius eliminated the Saints from MAAC Tournament competition. The Saints became the first team in the history of MAAC volleyball to fail to qualify for the conference tournament with five or fewer losses in league play.

There will still be MAAC Volleyball at the Alumni Recreation Center next weekend, as the MAAC volleyball championships will be held there on Saturday and Sunday.
