Jim Boeheim has called him "the most important player every to play for Syracuse basketball". The late Pearl Washington will honored tomorrow at the Carrier Dome during the Orange's matchup with Georgetown. The Hoyas and Orange have a storied rival back when both programs were a part of the Big East Conference. Dwayne "Pearl" Washington was a 2 time All American selection, and a 3-time Big East conference selection during his tenure as point guard for Syracuse. Washington passed away this April after a fight with tumor in his brain. Below is information provided by Syracuse athletics detailing some of the ways Washington will be honored this Saturday. Tipoff between Georgetown and Syracuse is set for noon in the Carrier Dome.

-Syracuse will wear sneakers with "31 Pearl" on the inside of the tongue.

-A "31" logo will be affixed to one of the Jim Boeheim Court sidelines, at approximately the same spot where Washington made his miraculous half-court shot to defeat Boston College on Jan. 21, 1984.

- A limited number of $31 seats will be made available for purchase.

- Syracuse students who have purchased season tickets will be able to secure their seat for the Georgetown game — despite it not being part of the student season-ticket package. Fall semester exams will have been completed at the time and students will be on break.

- Special back-court activities that associate with Pearl Washington's legacy at Syracuse will be available for fans to participate in.
