Shafer replaced Doug Marrone as Syracuse's football coach following Marrone's departure to take the head coaching position of the Buffalo Bills. In his first year as Syracuse head coach Coach Shafer led Syracuse to a 7-6 record and a victory over Minnesota in the Texas Bowl. Shafer finished the 2014 season with a 3-9 season and enters this weekend with his team on an eight game losing streak. The 3-8 Orange will host Boston College on Senior Day on Shafer's final game as the team's head coach. During Shafer's tenure Syracuse football has compiled a 13-23 record. Many Shafer supporters pointed to back to back season in which the Orange were forced to play with fourth string quaterbacks as the reason for his lack of success. The search is now under way for Syracuse football's next head coach. @1045TheTeam and @TomGozz will have more details as the decision process continues.
