The baseball fields at Magee Park in Delmar are usually hopping late into October with as much Little League fall baseball as they can fit in before the ground hardens from the cold temperatures. One cool event, that is in its second year, puts the spirit of the league's enthusiastic players into one last fun Halloween party. Saturday October 29th, Tri Village Little League will host a "Trunk or Treat". Over two dozen cars will be decorated in Halloween style with volunteers in costume.
The Battenkill River runs nearly 60 miles long, originating in Vermont and emptying out into the Hudson River in New York. This time of year, the Battenkill, especially as it travels through Washington County, is one of the prettiest stretches of preeminent trout fishing territory in the country. On Thursday evening, the pristine waterway was marred by tragedy. A fisherman, now being reported from Delmar, was found dead in the river.
A popular wine bar that has been in Delmar for the past seven years, announced on their Facebook page that they are closing. Although it will no longer be a wine bar, the Twisted Vine Wine & Tap will become another venture.
Four Corners Pharmacy was a staple in the Delmar community for over fifteen years. It closed in November of 2020. It was the last independent drug store in town. Now the building will be housing a new restaurant. It may be just what the doctor ordered.
