After leading the New York Mets to the World Series, manager Terry Collins was rewarded with a two-year contract extension, and now we learn this:

Good for TC. He'd never been to the playoffs before this season and he helped the Mets get a thrilling five-game series win over the Dodgers in the NLDS and then a clean sweep of the Cubs in the NLCS.

He's already won the Sporting News Manager of the Year Award in the NL. He's up against Joe Maddon and Mike Matheny for this version of the award (the Baseball Writers Association of America).

The winners will be announced on November 17.

Collins is the only Mets representative in the Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, MVP or Manager of the Year categories.
