Tim Tebow is inching his way closer to Citi Field. The former Heisman Trophy winner was promoted to high Class A ball at Port St Lucie and his dream to play in the majors is still alive. His numbers are mediocre but his marketing skills are enormous. Tebow puts fans in the seats, and that's half the battle. Tebow is better than many expected but his promotion has more to do with his popularity than his playing ability.

Is this only a publicity stunt? Perhaps. But it could also be the Mets legitimately trying to figure out if a 29-year old outfielder in their minor league system has real potential. The only way to find out if Tebow will sink or swim, if you will, is to challenge him with stronger competition.
