One year removed from going 1-11, the University at Albany football team is now 2-0 under first-year head coach Greg Gattuso.

The Danes topped Central Connecticut, 19-0, on Saturday. The Purple and Gold defense held Central to just 195 yards of total offense -- and just 62 rushing yards.

The win was UAlbany's 100th as an FCS (Football Championship Subvdivision) program.

UAlbany was able to use a balanced offensive attack in the win. Senior quarterback Will Fiacchi was 13-28 for 163 yards and two scores, while Omar Osbourne ran 35 times for 110 yards.

The Danes started the scoring on their first drive, taking the ball 46 yards on 11 plays before a Patrick Toole 36-yard field goal made it 3-0.

Fiacchi's two touchdown passes (both to Cole King) came in the second quarter, with the second coming with just :07 left in the first half.

A two-hour lightning delay between halves cooled off the UA offense, but with a 17-0 lead and a dominant defense, Albany was able to easily take its second win of the year.

The Danes forced a safety on the first Central possession of the second half.

UAlbany opens up conference play on Sept. 20th at Rhode Island.
