High school football athletes in the Capital Region have not taken the field this fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Section 2 along with the rest of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association is scheduled to have the state's football season begin in this spring. For some potential college recruits, the opportunity to showcase their skills have been limited.

Luckily, the Capital Region will be having a showcase for Section 2 football players in November. The Capital Region Football Showcase is scheduled for Sunday November 8th at Afrim's Sports Park in Colonie. The event is open to athletes who are currently in any school district and in grade level 9 through 12. The camp will feature evaluation periods for prospective athletes and will be following New York State protocols during the competition.

As someone who personally competed in summer college football camps in the past, I know these events can serve as a great chance for young athletes to find connections to compete at the collegiate level.

Although no spectators are allowed at the event, college football coaches are scheduled to be in attendance.
