Saturday night was a big one for the Union Hockey program.

The team upset No. 3 Boston University - and also earned Rick Bennett his 100th career win at the helm of the Dutchmen program.

The win over No. 3 Boston was the highest team to be beaten at Messa Rink since Union beat Yale in 2011.

The 5-3 win for Union was its first of the season. Union tied in the season opener on Friday.

For Bennett, it's his 100th career win. He led the Dutchmen to the National Championship in the 2013-14 season.

That season, Bennett was named recipient of the 2014 Spencer Penrose Award as National Coach of the Year by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). Bennett completed the hat trick of major awards by also receiving Coach of the Year honors from College Hockey News and U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO).

He is the third most-winning coach in Union Hockey history and is under contract through the 2021-2022 season.
