You wouldn't think finding a new head coach would be a big problem for Rutgers University. An impending move to the Big 10. A scandal that is small potatoes compared to many in College sports. Plenty of in state talent to cull through. The perfect fit in my opinion is former Pitt and UCLA coach Ben Howland. The Scarlet Knights seem to have other ideas.

This much we do know. Rhode Island coach Danny Hurley has turned down the gig. Reports now have the Knights zeroing in on former Rutgers standout Eddie Jordan. Jordan has vast NBA coaching experience. Jordan starred at Rutgers back in the 70's (from 1973-1977). He has been a head coach with the Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. He is currently an assistant with the LA Lakers.

The scandal at Rutgers took down former head man Mike Rice, caught on video physically confronting  players and verbally via derogatory comments. The Knights also lost their Athletic Director, assistant coach, and others, but isn't even close to the scandal at let's say Penn State. Finding a coach to replace Rice should be rather easy.

Jordan led a short term revival of the Washington Wizards, led by agent zero as he was known Gilbert Arenas. Jordan played in the NBA for 8 years.

On another front, Rutgers announced that 1 of their top recruits, Bronx point guard Shane Rector has de-committed  from the university. Rector said his decision isn't final, but rather pending who Rutgers hires to replace Rice who recruited the guard. Rector claims that Rutgers is still on his list but that he "wanted to cover all his bases." Rector chose Rutgers over Arizona State, Providence, and a few other suitors.
