Every job that I ever had came with certain responsibilities and generally we know what we are getting into when we accept a position. When it comes to being a New York State Trooper the only thing you know for sure is that anything could happen. One day you are helping someone change a tire on the Thruway and the next you could be saving a life.
On August 17th, a New York State Trooper literally dove into action to save a man from drowning. In a moments notice the officer had to "Do" or the individual could die. In a moments notice this Trooper became a hero.

New York State Police report that Trooper Francis W. Rush was on the scene in Fishkill where a man allegedly suffered a medical emergency causing him to lose control of his vehicle and drive into a pond. As you could imagine the car became submerged and the driver was in danger.
As you will see in the video below, Trooper Rush relied on his training and his instincts in an attempt to save the man's life. In less than 3 minutes Rush went from his police cruiser, into the water and back to shore with the victim. 3 heart-pounding minutes where every second was crucial to the man's survival.
According to the New York State Police, Trooper Rush entered a pond in Fishkill, NY and rescued the driver of a car that was submerged in 15-feet of water. The driver was treated and survived the incident.
