You've got to love College Football. There were so many big games this past weekend and more coming this week. For the first week, the top players have been named from the Northeast Conference.

Albany drubbed Colgate 40-23 and in doing so several of their players were honored for a job well done. Great Danes running back Drew Smith ran wild gaining 174 yards and scoring 2 TD's. For Smith it is the 19th time he has gone over 100 yards in his career and moved him into 6th place on the school's all time rushing leaders list. Smith won the honors for conference player of the week.

Then there was the special game from special teamer Ocieka Bakou who was a demon on the field blocking two punts that led to a TD and a safety. He alone accounted for 9 of the team's 40 points. Bakou's first blocked punt helped the Danes cut a three point deficit to one. Bakou blocked the next punt attempt by Colgate. Teammate Kyle Jordan scooped it up and ran it in and the Danes took a 16-10 lead they never gave up.

Ironically last year the Danes blocked only two kicks all year!

Now Albany, the only NEC team to win a game heads out on the road for three straight games starting at Robert Morris this coming Saturday!
