It is definitely construction season in the Capital Region so it's not unusual to see lane closures and construction vehicles on the highways. But when I was driving home from work the other day, I saw this enormous wide load with a four-car escort going up the Northway.

It Didn't Look That Big Until I Got Closer

It seemed like a steel beam or some kind of typical piece of metal that you would see but as I got closer, I notice just how huge it was!

Just look at how long it is and how they needed an extended tractor trailer bed to transport this. There were four cars following around it with caution lights and signs. When I got next to it I couldn't believe how huge it was.

As I passed it, all I could think of what those heavy, rusty chains that were holding it in place snapping and that slab of steel crushing me. Luckily that didn't happen. They were very safely transporting it. That was a "me" thought.

What Do You Think it Is?

I know that they are replacing the Sitterly Road bridge in Clifton Park so my first thought was it must be heading there. But the more I looked at it as I passed, I think it may be too large as a part of that span or overpass.

Although when I look at the picture of the old overpass and look again at the transport truck and what it's carrying, maybe it is for the sides underneath the actual roadway.
