Washington Valor vs Albany Empire

In their inaugural season, the Albany Empire were able to finish the regular season as the top seed. Unfortunately for Empire fans, the season came to an end this past Saturday as they lost to the fourth seeded Washington Valor at home 47-40. The aggregate lead of six advances the Valor to the Arena Bowl this Saturday against the Baltimore Brigade. Despite not reaching the Arena Bowl in year one, Empire fans continued to pack the Times Union Center each and every home game. The Empire led the league in attendance and the franchise's players secured many end of the season awards (Malachi Jones, Hayworth Hicks, Joe Sykes). Plus the team's appearances at local businesses (ICryo cryotherapy in Latham, Recovery Room) expanded the team's local exposure. I truly believe from on and off field year one of the Albany Empire was a success.
