Just when Joe Cremo, and then Kevin Huerter, graduate out of the local basketball scene and you think the cupboard is bare for talent in Section II, here comes Hameir Wright (Albany Academy) and Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls).

Girard spent his weekend playing at the Super Sophomore Camp in Atlanta. But he didn't just play, he impressed, in a big way.

The rising sophomore was selected to the Top 20 all-star game.

Furthermore, Girard LED his team in scoring at the all-star event with 15 points on 5-10 shooting and 4-8 from three-point range.

Remember that Girard had multiple games this year over 40 points and if he stays healthy and remains in Section II, he could break the state's all-time scoring record held by Lance Stephenson.

He averaged nearly 30 points a game during his freshman year at the Class A school.

Girard III will appear on 'Capital Region Sports Saturday' this week, hosted by Brady Farkas from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
