When it comes to the Mets these days, most news is that of the bad kind.  The Mets will be without the services of left fielder Jason Bay and Pitcher Mike Pelfrey for at least 15 days as they have been placed on the disabled list.

Bay was put on the 15-day DL after an MRI showed a fracture the left side of his rib cage. The injury occured while trying to make a diving catch during the doubleheader against the Giants on Monday. Bay would actually stay in the game making two more plate appearances before leaving in the 8th inning.

So far this season the 33 year old is batting a mere .240 with 3 HR's and 5 RBI's.  Infielder Zach Lutz has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take Bay's spot on the roster.

It was also announced Tuesday that pitcher Mike Pelfrey was placed on the Disabled List with Elbow Inflammation. In 3 starts Pelfrey is 0-0 with a 2.29 ERA and 13 Strikeouts.  The Club will recall Left-handed reliever Robert Carson for three games, after which he'll be send back to the minors the Mets will recall a starter for Friday's game.
