Rory McIlroy not only won the U.S. Open at Congressional yesterday but he made the world stand up and take notice. What McIlroy did was quite impressive:  he set tourney records for score under par at -16 and lowest final score of 268.  He finished 8 shots better than 2nd place finisher Jason Day. A Tiger-esque performance no doubt. But I'm not impressed.

Rory McIlroy won the 2011 U.S. Open on Sunday at 17 strokes under par.  It was a week-long virtuoso performance bolstered by the fact that just two months ago McIlroy blew a four stroke lead in the final round of the Masters.  The epic disaster that was the Irishman’s final round at Augusta had the golf world wondering if he would ever recover.  He did.  Spectacularly.

Harmon Killebrew died today.  Sadly, the hall of famer's passing is the third notable sports death this month, joining golf great Seve Ballesteros and New York Ranger Derrick Boogaard.

Whether you’re drawn in by it’s history, it’s players, the bright lights and pretty flowers, or the general aura of Augusta you’ve got to admit, the Masters is special.

Every sports fan or gambler knows that you don’t celebrate an outcome until the game has gone final.  Well, based on that theory, last night, I made it snow.

After years of asking for it, fans of the EA Sports "Tiger Woods" series will finally get what they've wanted, a chance to play Augusta National.

Yesterday’s final round at the Farmer’s Insurance Open came down to the final shot on the 72nd hole of the weekend. The tournament had everything you could want in a final round. Except Tiger.

Wednesday, Tiger Woods officially kicked off his 2011 season by entering the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, scheduled from January 27-30 in San Diego.
