Venus Williams was suppose to play her second round match yesterday, but instead has to withdraw due to an illness.  Andy Roddick is able to move on after a tough match between Michael Russell.

Serena Williams made her first match at this years US Open look easy.  She is well on her way to her fourth US Open championship and 14th grand slam title in total.

The US Open starts the yearly festivities in Flushing Queens today despite the area being in the processes of cleaning up after Hurricane Irene.

This could turn into the feel good story of the year in Women's golf.  21 year old Japanese golfer Mika Miyazato is currently holding onto a one shot lead at the US Open.

Rory McIlroy won the 2011 US Open in impressive fashion, but he's no Tiger Woods.

Rory McIlroy not only won the U.S. Open at Congressional yesterday but he made the world stand up and take notice. What McIlroy did was quite impressive:  he set tourney records for score under par at -16 and lowest final score of 268.  He finished 8 shots better than 2nd place finisher Jason Day. A Tiger-esque performance no doubt. But I'm not impressed.

Rory McIlroy is challenging for his first major championship in record-breaking style.  McIlroy has set a 54-hole record at the U.S. Open.
