The No. 15 nationally ranked Great Danes men’s lacrosse team toppled No. 1 Loyola in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday in Baltimore.

The Danes 13-6 victory was the second tournament win in program history. UAlbany also defeated Loyola in 2007.

Lyle Thompson had three goals and five assists while Miles had five goals and two assists.

Lyle now has 122 points this season, ranking No. 1 on the all-time single season scoring list. Miles has 115 points, putting him at No. 2.

UA will play Notre Dame on May 17 at 2:30 p.m.

In addition to the Danes lax team, the UAlbany softball team is heading to the NCAA tournament after knocking off Stony Brook for the America East title.

The Purple and Gold (33-11) will fly to Eugene for a regional set to include No. 1 Oregon (49-7-1), Wisconsin (34-18) and Utah Valley State (18-40).

The Danes will play Wisconsin on May 16 at 5 p.m.
