After five Section Two teams failed to yield a state championship in boys' basketball, the Albany Academy Boys basketball team captured the Class A Federation Championship.

Academy, which does not compete in the Section II or NYSPHSAA Tournament, represents the Independent Schools at the Federations. Thus, you have not seen the Cadets play for nearly a month.

The win over Elmont gave Academy its second Federation title in the last four years. Head coach Brian Fruscio joined us today to talk about the championship, what it means, how the Independent Schools advance to the Federations, and to talk about his star Hameir Wright.

Wright is a 6-9 big man who will assume the title of best player in the Capital Region next season. He is already receiving Division I interest from George Washington, Cincinnati, Villanova and others.

LISTEN HERE to hear Brian Fruscio talk about the Federation title.
