Deon Lewis is offically now an NFL player.

Today, the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms with Albany native Dion Lewis on a four-year contract worth just over $2.2 million dollars.

Lewis was drafted in the 5th round (149th overall) in this past April's NFL Draft.  The 20-year old, completed his sophomore season with the Panthers before opting for the NFL Draft.

In 1999, Lewis set the Big East freshman rushing record held by Tony Dorsett with 1,799 yards.  He also scored 18 TD's and was named Big East Rookie of the Year as well as Big East Offensive Player of the Year.

In his sophomore season, he rushed for 1,061 yards and 13 scores.  Lewis led Albany Academy to a trip to the Class B New York State Championship game back in 2006.

At this point, Lewis would be vying for a back-up running back spot against Eldred Buckley and undrafted rookie Noel Devine.
