All-Star ‘Lame': Ten of New York Baseball’s Biggest First-Half Disasters
The All-Star Break is upon us, and for both New York baseball teams, the break comes somewhat mercifully.
The New York Yankees struggled immensely to generate offense after star slugger Aaron Judge was put on the injured list. The team fired hitting coach Dillon Lawson on Sunday, replacing him with first-time MLB coach Sean Casey on Monday afternoon. He'll have his hands full, as the Yankees enter the All-Star Break with an offense that's tied for second-worst in baseball.
The Mets, meanwhile, seemed to be finally hitting their stride entering the final weekend before the break. That said, all good things with the 2023 Mets have come to an end, and their recent win streak was no exception. New York dropped their final two games by scores of 3-1 and 6-2 respectively, and sit seven games back of a spot in the NL Wild Card.
