Racing for the first time since capturing the Triple Crown this summer, American Pharoah was back on the track on Sunday, capturing the Haskell Invitiational Stakes in New Jersey.

Pharoah finished the mine-and-an-eighth race in just under 1:48. Nearly 61,000 people came out to watch the champion run and owner Bob Baffert said the crowd was great.

"“I couldn't believe the crowd, how loud it was,” he said to the Associated Press via Time. It was a great crowd. I love bringing my horses here. Thank you for being behind Pharoah the whole way.”

The win gave Pharoah's team $1.75 million.

American Pharoah could be coming to Saratoga later this summer before he retires. Recently, NYRA has upped the purse in the Travers Stakes with hopes of getting him to run.

Speaking of Saratoga, a nice local tie for Pharoah and the Spa this week:

Hard to believe Pharoah was already in Saratoga. If he comes back, it'll be a much bigger deal.
