The wait is over and it is confirmed that Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will be racing in the Travers Stakes this upcoming weekend.

One of the owners of American Pharoah, Ahmed Zayat, tweeted the news on Sunday:

The colt worked out on Sunday morning and trainer Bob Baffert wanted to take one more look at Pharoah to make sure that he would be up for it. With an audience of roughly 2,000 people, Pharoah ran seven furlongs in 1:23.20. That was enough for the trainer to give the nod. Pharoah and his crew will head to Saratoga this Wednesday.

Pharoah will become the fourth Triple Crown winner to run in the Travers. Saturday's race is already capped and sold out with 150,000 in attendance.

The New York Racing Association put a cap on attendance before knowing whether Pharoah would be there because the race was already trending in that direction.

The purse for the Travers has been increased by $350,000 to a total of $1.6 million, which tops the Belmont purse which was at $1.5 million.

NYRA CEO and President Chris Kay will join 'Armen and Levack' LIVE from Saratoga Race Course this Friday at 3:15p ET on 'Your Home for New York Sports', 104.5 The Team.
