Yankees closer Andrew Miller is headed to the Disabled List with an injury to a muscle in his forearm. Manager Joe Girardi says Miller " had been experiencing it before" but it hadn't been an issue. Miller has 17 Saves with no blown saves in 26.1 innings pitched will be sorely missed BUT the Yankees do have an interesting insurance policy with Dellin Betances.

Before the season began and for some time into the season Girardi refused to name a closer between Miller and Betances. Miller stepped up and took the role but Betances has been lights out as well. Betances has only surrendered 1 earned run in 32.1 innings pitched.

This hurts the Yankees depth but it will be interesting to see how Betances handles the spotlight that comes with being closer for the Yankees. There are two possibility to fill the 8th inning role that was held by Betances, Chase Shreve or rookie Jacob Lingren.
