Awards Keep Piling Up For UAlbany Football
In a season where the UAlbany Great Danes Football team was picked to finish last in a pre season pole about the CAA, the Awards just keep on coming. Not only did the Great Danes win a FCS playoff game but now they've landed three players on the HERO Sports FCS All-America Teams AND have two AP All Americans.
Here are the Three players HERO Sports FCS All-America honors. Two players, Karl Mofor and Juwan Green, were selected to the Second Team, and Eli Mencer was named Third Team.
Mofor, a junior running back from Greenbelt, Md., led the Great Danes with 1,290 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in 2019. Mofor averaged just over 92 yards on the ground per game. Mofor led the CAA in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, and ranked second in rushing touchdowns.
Green, a senior wide receiver from Martinsburg, W. Va., led UAlbany with 1,386 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns this season, averaging 99.0 yards per game. Green led the CAA in receiving touchdowns and receiving yards, and ranked third in receiving yards per game.
Mencer, a senior defensive lineman from Altoona, Pa., led UAlbany with 14.5 sacks this year, as well as 24.0 tackles for loss. Mencer also recorded one interception on the season and forced five fumbles, recovering three. Mencer ranked second in the CAA in sacks, and third in tackles for loss.
