This weekend is a huge weekend for UAlbany athletics as the UAlbany football team hosts Richmond in an FCS playoff game on Saturday at 12 noon.  It will be a tripleheader of events headlined by the football game and then followed by the women's Albany Cup between Siena and UAlbany and then the men take on Dartmouth with both games being played at the brand new Broadview Center.  It is arguably the biggest football game under head coach Greg Gattuso.  Below is our quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:

The UAlbany football team will beat Richmond on Saturday if the defense continues to play at a high level. The play of the defense the best in the CAA conference this season is one of the biggest reasons why the Great Danes are in the second round of the FCS playoffs. The Great Danes pass rush has been relentless all season with defensive ends AJ Simon and Anton Juncaj producing one sack after another. The UAlbany offense led by quarterback Reese Poffenbarger will put points on the board and if the defense can win the turnover battle the Great Danes will win and advance.

I think UAlbany will win a close competitive game and I expect a really big crowd because when you start throwing around the word playoffs people get excited.  UAlbany is unbeaten at home and I truly believe it will stay that way.  Then who knows what will happen but according to head coach Greg Gattuso, if UAlbany plays their game than they should have no problems winning on Saturday afternoon.
