There's an old saying we've all heard "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anyting at all." I know that I for one violate that rule from time to time but Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield must live by a different rule like "Run your mouth about as many people as you can." The latest target of Mayfield's verbal onslaught is none other than New York Giants' QB Daniel Jones.

An interview Mayfield did with GQ magazine was published today and in that interview Mayfield lays up just short of calling Jones a loser. Apparently during the interview a SportsCenter feature on Jones was playing near by, this was what promoted Mayfield to say the following.

“I cannot believe the Giants took Daniel Jones, Blows my mind.” Mayfield continued after being asked why it's so hard to evaluate college QB's “Some people overthink it,” Mayfield says. “That's where people go wrong. They forget you've gotta win. Either you have a history of winning and being that guy for your team,” he says, “or you don't.”

Jones had a college record of 17-19 while Mayfield went 39-9. So he was clearly the better college player but that doesn't mean all that much in the NFL. The fact that he would so openly criticize a guy that hasn't played a single down in the NFL is so different then what we're used to. Mayfield is obviously unhappy with the Giants after what he perceives as the team and their fans mistreating his new best friend Odell Beckham Jr but that has nothing to do with Jones. I was already pulling for Jones because of the reception he got after being picked 6th overall in this year's draft but now I'm all in. I hope his career dwarfs Mayfield's.
