A tough blow for fans of Capital Region basketball as UAlbany women's basketball coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has left the program to take the head coaching position at Central Florida.

Coach Abe led the Great Danes to five straight America East championships, culminating in the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win at the Division I level this season. UAlbany topped Florida in the first round before falling to Syracuse in the Round of 32.

Coach Abe's timing for leaving makes sense, as she is set to graduate her best player in Shereesha Richards. Richards leaves UAlbany as the top scorer in basketball history (men or women). She scored more 2,000 points and grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds and could be a pick in the WNBA Draft.

Coach Abe has her work cut out for her at UCF, as the Knights went 7-23 last year and finished 4-14 in league play.

We wish Coach Abe the best and thank her for all the times she joined the show station!
