The transfer portal is almost impossible to follow these days with college basketball especially on the local scene.  Former UAlbany standout and America East freshman of the year Jonathan Beagle is going to Richmond to play in the Atlantic 10 conference.  On paper it seems like a great move for him and his career.  The climate in Virginia is way warmer than here in Upstate New York for one, and a fresh start is always good for anybody.  It is unfortunate how things ended between Beagle head coach Dwayne Killings and the University at Albany program.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Jonathan Beagle makes a good choice in Richmond to further his college basketball career. The Hudson Falls grad who didn’t last two years at UAlbany will get a chance to play in the Atlantic-10 and the Spiders were 23-10 last year. Beagle is a very skilled 6'10 forward who can play at the best level. A change in scenery might be just what Beagle needs to restart his career.

I wish Jonathan Beagle nothing but the best as we had a great relationship.  He is an extremely talented big man who just has to improve his overall confidence and then he'll be completely fine.  His footwork is excellent and his defense improved a lot too.  I think this move is best for all parties involved.  Now it is onto the next chapter for Jonathan Beagle and we'll see how he does with the Spiders for the 2024-25 college basketball season.
