Manny Machado has reportedly reached an agreement to join the San Diego Padres. This marks the first of the two biggest Free Agents on the market to sign this off season. There is no confirmation on the amount but reports have the deal being 10 years $300 million.

Manny Machado had met with a few teams including the Padres, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. After reports of lower offers from the Yankees and White Sox, it appears Machado has cashed in with the Padres. This is basically the best the Yankees could hope for. The Yankees seemed lukewarm at best in their attempts to add Machado after his non-hustle comments. So for him to sign with a National League team that will actually play at Yankee in May is the next best thing to adding his talent yourself.

We now wait to see where and when Outfielder Bryce Harper will sign. The Machado signing most likely rules the Padres out of the Harper sweepstakes.
