It's been a rough week for Stefon Diggs, star wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills.

First, his team fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round, losing at home, and getting dominated for the majority of the contest. Diggs himself had a less-than-stellar day on offense, catching four passes on a team-high ten targets.

Diggs drew the ire of football fans (not Buffalo fans, just fans of other teams predominantly) for showing his emotions on the sidelines, and reportedly attempting to leave Highmark Stadium before the coaching staff had addressed the team in the locker room.

After suffering through a barrage of complaints from fans online, Diggs took matters into his own hands, and responded via a string of tweets on his Twitter account.

Stefon Diggs Responds to Critical Fans in String of Tweets Monday Night

Buffalo Bills' star wide receiver Stefon Diggs took to Twitter on Monday evening, just after 5PM, to address the criticism he's been receiving since the Bills were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon.

Here's the first tweet of the string:

Here's the second:

And, here's the final tweet of the trio:

Look, I understand where Diggs is coming from, both in-the-moment, and in his follow-up tweets. He is a player who clearly plays with a great deal of emotion in his game, and he was reacting emotionally to his team playing poorly in the biggest game of the season so far.

Now, if he actually did try to leave the stadium early, that's where I personally have a problem. Stay in the locker room, take the loss with your teammates, and move on with your life at the proper time. No one player on a team is bigger than the sum of its parts, and that's what it appears Stefon Diggs thought in that moment.

Enough from me, however. What did the court of public opinion have to say in response?

It's a truly fascinating social experiment. I could've included 100,000 responses on Twitter, and the list would be roughly 50,000 in support of Stefon Diggs, and roughly 50,000 against his actions. No matter what he says, or what he does, a section of NFL fans will be against it.

There was one other response to Diggs' tweets that caught the attention of fans. Eli Apple, who was playing on defense against Diggs and the Bills, took a shot at the wide receiver on Twitter.

Sunday was not the finest hour for Diggs or the Bills, and in the aftermath of Sunday's game, more fans are beginning to recognize this. If Buffalo is eliminated once again next season, and Diggs reacts in a similar way, then it becomes a trend, and that's a major problem that the team will want to address.

Until then, however, most of us can agree that it was an emotional response to a dire situation that came off as immature, and hopefully, fan can allow Stefon Diggs to move on from it.
