The Yankees offense has plagued them in the last few weeks of the season and heading into the post-season on Tuesday, ESPN's Buster Olney explained one of the biggest reasons.

"One of the big issues for the Yankees, and it was exploited by the Red Sox, is that they have such difficulty against left-handers," said ESPN's Buster Olney, on 104.5 The Team.

"They like what they have seen in this platoon so far with Rob Refsnyder playing second base with Dustin Ackley and their looking for any way at this point to get offense. Maybe this is the reason why Joe Girardi was playing with a high degree of urgency [on Wednesday night], he needs to get Brian McCann two or three days off.  He needs to get Brett Gardener some time off and Chase Headley and if those guys get some time off, then maybe their offense gets better.

"But they can’t count on that, and that's why they have given Refsnyder the shot and he has taken advantage of it so far.  It got to the point where he looked so good at the plate [Wednesday] night I was actually surprised when they had that bunt situation and they asked him to lay the ball down rather than just let him swing away."

The Yankees one game Wild Card is on Tuesday night with a 8:08p ET first pitch and can be heard on 104.5 The Team.

ESPN's Buster Olney joins 'Armen and Levack' every Thursday at 5:15p ET, sponsored by All Star Wine and Spirits, on 104.5 The Team.
