The Yankees have had a month of August that has seen them cool down considerably compared to July. But ESPN’s Buster Olney says, ‘fear not, Yankee fan’.

“As of this morning, the Yankees chances of making the post-season is 94%,” said Olney to ‘Armen and Levack, on Thursday. “They have a four-game lead in the wild card race and the teams that are chasing them are not going to be compared to the ’98 Yankees when you’re talking about the Texas Rangers with pitching issues, the Minnesota Twins, etc.”

Making it to the post-season for the Pinstripes still seems to be doable. But, hey, don’t get too picky, Yankee fan.

“It depends if you’re focused on winning the division or just getting to the dance.”

What stands in their way? Troy Tulowitzki, David Price, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

“I don’t think [Toronto] is going to slow down. They look like right now that they’re either the first or second best team in baseball. It’s either the Royals or Blue Jays, the way they’re playing.

“With David Price coming in and making such a difference for them, here’s more bad news, Levack. They have Marcus Stroman making progress in his rehabilitation. He’s going to pitch in the minor leagues for a couple of weeks and you might see him in the rotation in September that will be comprised of David Price, Marcus Stroman, Mark Burley and R.A. Dickey. That’s pretty good.”

ESPN’s Buster Olney joins ‘Armen and Levack’ every Thursday at 5:15p ET, sponsored by All-Star Wine and Spirits in Latham Farms, on 104.5 The Team.
