This week on 104.5 the Team we are continuing up the #CapitalRegionGreatestSportsMomentBracket as we are trying to crown the best sports moment in the history of the Capital Region as decided by you! Today's matchup is the first time we have a returning team as they won a previous play-in game. The winner of this will face Peter Hooley's shot in the next round!

(4) Joseph Girard III breaks NY State Scoring Record and Eclipses 4,000 Points

Throughout his high school career. JGIII was basically a walking bucket and that showed day in and day out. Girard passed Lance Stephenson in his junior year and ended up with 4,763 points (4,329 officially since NFHS does not count point totals prior to 9th grade). JGIII capped it all off with a state championship in his senior season:

(5) The 14th seeded Siena Saints Beat no. 3 Stanford in 1989 NCAA Tournament

The underdog Saints played the Cardinal in Greensboro, North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and Siena pulled off the upset. Marc Brown scored 32 points including the game winning free throws. The Saints also defeated Birdstone winning the 2004 Travers in the play-in matchup earlier in this bracket.
