‘Complete A**': Radio Host Slammed for False New York Giants’ ‘Party’ Story

Did you hear about the major blow-out party that New York Giants' head coach Brian Daboll had at his house the day before his team's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys?

Neither did Brian Daboll.

That didn't stop a New York-based radio host from making the claim that Daboll threw a grand party at his home the night before the game. While there was a party at the Daboll household that day, it was not nearly as nefarious of an event as the host made it out to be.

After the dust settled on the largely-false claim, the host was forced to issue an apology for what he said.

Radio Host Claims New York Giants' Coach Held 'Huge' Party at Home Before Game

A story from The New York Post and other outlets detailed the false claims made by Michael Kay, afternoon host on ESPN Radio New York, about a "huge party" thrown by New York Giants' head coach, Brian Daboll. Kay described the party as "huge" and condemned Daboll for it on his radio show last week.

Come to find out, Daboll was throwing a party...for his six-year old child.

Here were the initial comments made by Daboll:

“I have it on good authority that Brian Daboll had a huge party at his house on Saturday night. This is truth” Kay said Monday. “You’re not throwing a big party if you’re about to get your butt kicked by the Cowboys. So, this took everybody by surprise and that’s what’s scary. Nobody expected this sort of blowout. They thought that they were going to play with them and they didn’t even show up." - Michael Kay, via The New York Post

Those claims were made on his show Monday, after the Giants were defeated soundly by the Cowboys, 40-0.

On Tuesday's show, however, Kay opened with an apology, as the story he had told his listeners was almost completely false. Here's what he said:

“I found out after, and I should have done more work, I’m a complete ass for doing this, and I feel sorry for any pain I might have caused that family by insinuating anything. I found out later it was a party for his six-year-old, it was a birthday party."

 

“I feel like a complete idiot and I’m really, really sorry to Brian Daboll, Brian Daboll’s family and the Giants as well, they’ve always been very fair with us. I am really, really apologetic. I can’t put myself out anymore than this because this was a huge mistake." - Michael Kay, via The New York Post
