After using three years of playing eligibility at the collegiate level, 22-year old David Yankey decided to forgo his senior year at Stanford but not without getting his degree first.

While preparing for the NFL Combine this April, Yankey is currently taking 12 hours of classes.

"It's definitely a normal thing to take a semester off and come back later," said Yankey. "But this was something that I was talking about with my family that this is so important. It's really tough to have the motivation to come back some times and finish up.

"Also to graduate with my class and be able to walk with those guys who I came in with and built life-lasting friendships with."

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound guard who's currently ranked at the top of his position spoke with the New York Giants within the last week.

"Yeah, I talked to them a little bit at the Combine. A lot of the interviews were all pretty positive. A lot of teams need offensive linemen. Hopefully one of them picks me up."

Yankey was interviewed by the Jets as well and looks forward to performing at Stanford's Pro Day next month on March 28th.
