Will The Bills Make A Move For Recently Cut De’Andre Hopkins?
The star wide receiver has been linked to the Buffalo Bills for the last couple months. Will they make it happen now?
Its' the news that a lot of Bills fans have been waiting for. De'Andre Hopkins has been cut by the Arizona Cardinals.
Who is De'Andre Hopkins?
De'Andre Hopkins is a current star wide receiver in the NFL. Until today, he was a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Before coming to Arizona, he was a standout on the Houston Texans.
Why should Bills fans care about an Arizona Cardinal being cut?
On most days, this wouldn't be a story. Players get cut every day in the NFL. But Hopkins has been linked to the Bills for a couple months now. Before the draft, people thought he might be a good compliment to current wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Many guessed that the Bills would try to trade for Hopkins with some draft capital or a player to give Josh Allen another weapon to throw to.
A trade for him never happened and they mentioned that his price tag from the Cardinals was just too high. They weren't willing to pay that amount to them.
De'Andre Hopkins is now a free agent
Here's why it matters. Because he's been cut by the Cardinals, he becomes a free agent and he can go to play wherever he wants. Just a few days ago, he was asked which quarterback he would love to have throwing him the ball over the second half of his career and immediately his first answer was Josh Allen. He gushed over how much he liked him.
Of course he's going to want to get paid, but he can make the decision of where he goes now. Could Josh Allen be the bargaining chip that will help to bring a second big name receiver to the Bills?
