Did Gerry McNamara Just Get His Signature Win At Siena?
What a win it was on Sunday afternoon for the Siena men's basketball team as they defeated a very good Quinnipiac team 84-75. They were down 11 at halftime 40-29 and rallied all the way back thanks in large part due to efficient shooting and a switch to a full court press defense which forced several turnovers. It was an awesome crowd of over 6,400 as that was their biggest crowd of the year to date. GMac was fired up and the crowd fed right off of him. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
Siena head coach Gerry McNamara gets his first signature win at Siena on Sunday after beating first place Quinnipiac at MVP Arena. It was only a matter of time after losing some many close MAAC conference games this season that his team which always gives maximum effort gets a big win. Siena almost won at Marist on Friday but came up short. It was a quick turnaround and once again Siena gets behind early to start the game before overcoming a 13-point deficit to win. Siena would be the last team anyone wants to face when the playoffs roll around in just a few weeks.

MJ and I have on GMac every Wednesday at 12 noon ET and he is a great interview and must listen radio. Plus he is a regular guy on top of all that. Siena will be a tough out in the MAAC Conference Tournament as the Saints play very hard just like their head coach did.
