It's possibly the biggest understatement ever that 2020 has not gone as planned. The NFL has been the closest to business as usual of any league in all of sports. The NFL Draft had to go virtual and social distant but it happened on schedule. The preseason games have been canceled but that's not a huge deal. Many of us think those games are redundant anyway. Even with NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell's full steam ahead attitude I'm scared the season either won't happen or will be so different we won't recognize it. Tonight's debut of HBO's Hard Knocks featuring the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers will be a look into how things work and could possibly put some of my fears to bed.

This will be a very different season already as it will feature both LA teams. I love the Hard Knocks series because I like that inside the training camp vibe it shares. I like it even more this year because for the first time in 7 years I won't be attending any NFL training camps.

I find myself almost losing track of how close the 2020 season is, or at least is supposed to be. So seeing these teams putting in work wihopefully kick start my sense of timing and excitement for the season, which is scheduled to kick off in less than a month. Possibly the most valuable thing this season can provide is insight to how the teams are trying to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It'll be scary for sure but hopefully tonight's episode answers a lot of questions and restores my hope in the coming season.

Here's a flashback to when the Giants held their training camp at UAlbany.
