For all you basketball fans out there, meet Mamadou Ndiaye. Ndiaye, a high school junior at Brethren Christian High School in California, may not be the next big thing but he certainly is big. Ndiaye, an 18 year old from Senegal, is 7-foot-5, which is taller than any one who currently plays in the NBA. Mamadou is currently 22.9 points, 13.2 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game, and is starting to draw major attention from college recruits.

Unfortunately for Ndiaye, his star basketball career is far from a lock. Ndiaye’s suffers from internal tumors, one of which lives on his pituitary gland, which has led to his abnormally large stature. In order to keep from going blind he’s going to need to undergo multiple surgeries to remove these tumors. What’s more, his game needs to be tightened up severely. As you can see in this video, Ndiaye’s skill set is extremely raw, mostly consisting of catching the ball, turning around and slamming it home. He shows the ability to control the ball and hit the midrange jumper, but it is evident that he still has to grow into his own body. The young man has a young way to go, but he certainly has stellar coordination and great upside.
