I like to think I know a lot about sports. I like to think I know about the legends of sports. I admit though, that my knowledge of hockey comes in somewhere around average. But one name I certainly know is Gordie Howe.

It's sad to report that just a few days after Muhammad Ali's death, Howe has also died. He was 88.

Howe, one of the best players of all-time, played 26 seasons in the NHL and six years in the WHA. He scored 801 career NHL goals and 174 WHA goals and played up until the age of 51.

He spent 25 years playing with the Red Wings and played with the Hartford Whalers in his age 51 year, scoring 15 goals in 80 games!

He was nicknamed 'Mr. Hockey' and with longevity like that, it's not hard to see why. RIP to another great, gone too soon.
