Shaker High School graduate Jeff Hoffman got the win last night for the New Britain Rock Cats against the Trenton Thunder, AA affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Hoffman tossed five innings in the victory, surrendering just one run on four hits. He also added three strikeouts.

For the year, across two levels and two organizations, Hoffman is 5-5 with a 3.03 ERA in 20 starts. Pitch count limits have forced Hoffman out of games early and have limited his ability to get decisions.

He has 75 punchouts on the season and just 27 walks in 104.0 innings.

Hoffman was the centerpiece of the Rockies-Blue Jays megadeal that sent Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto and sent Reyes, Hoffman, and others to Colorado.

Hoffman is one of several Capital Region players in professional baseball. He joins Jaime Schultz (Maple Hill/Rays) and Matt Gage (Broadlbin-Perth/Giants) in AA. He also joins former Shaker pitcher Tommy Kahnle in the Rockies organization.
