The New York Yankees continue to sign and acquire our local Section II baseball products as they just recently got left handed relief pitcher Matt Gage.  He is from Broadalbin Perth and played three seasons for Siena baseball.  He has really good stuff and a great repertoire of pitches.  He now joins Kevin Smith from Columbia and Tommy Kahnle from Shaker as members of the Yankees.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing local products succeed at the next level in major league baseball.  Below is my quick take on this as seen in the Times Union:
Broadalbin Perth grad Matt Gage another Section II player lands with the New York Yankees joining Columbia grad Kevin Smith.  Gage a left-handed relief pitcher who spent three seasons with Siena before grinding it out in the minors can help the Yankees coming out of the Bullpen. Gage had a short but effect stint with Toronto and then Houston before being claimed by the Yankees. Gage in addition to being a very talented player has a lot of grit and determination two ingredients that have helped him reach his goals.

The Yankees will be a dangerous team this season in 2024 and we will give them even more extra coverage with our locals in action and with the team.  He will improve a bullpen that has lost some guys and experienced some major injuries in the offseason and during the season last year as well.  I will be rooting extra hard for the Yankees and again don't forget to tune in for the entire 2024 Yankees season right here on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio the Capital Region's home for New York sports.
