How Did UAlbany Football Do In Their Season Opener At Home?
UAlbany got a nice win over Long Island University on Saturday night for the Blackout Game at Casey Stadium for their season opener. Although I think it was much closer than the fans in attendance or watching expected, they still won the game. The crowd was awesome even despite the rain right around kickoff. Now the team has to find their identity in the weeks to come before conference play begins at the end of the season. Below is my quick take on this as seen in The Times Union:
The UAlbany football has a three-game grace period to figure it out and make any necessary changes before the start of the CAA schedule. The Great Danes were tested but passed their first opponent beating Long Island University 27-21 on Saturday at Casey Stadium. The next games at West Virginia and at Idaho are of the much tougher variety before the conference schedule begins after a bye week on September 28th. There is plenty to clean up after week one but that's to be expected when you have a roster overhaul from last season's CAA Championship team.
Now it is off to Morgantown West Virginia as the Great Danes prepare to take on the Mountaineers in a game where they will be heavy underdogs. The atmosphere will be rocking as MJ and I are very much looking forward to this road trip. UAlbany just needs to go out there and compete while also staying fully healthy.
