How Will Rob Manfred Handle Cardinals Hacking Situation? [AUDIO]
Rob Manfred is in his first year as commissioner and faces an unprecedented situation. Buster Olney discussed what he believes the commissioner will do.
“I think in the end, he’s in a position where he’ll plow in the wake of whatever the FBI comes up with.” Buster told Armen & Levack on 104.5 The Team. “If the FBI comes out and says ‘this was a systematic effort by the St. Louis Cardinals to get in to the files of the Astros’ then I think he would come down hard.
“If it’s a case of a couple of dopey staffers 25 years old, chortling sending this stuff to Deadspin then it’s going to be something less. You could suspend those particular individuals, he could fine the Cardinals but here is the thing; he is limited in what he can do in part by the collective bargaining agreements because, like in the NFL where the central management runs the whole sport versus the union, they have control of a lot of these issues."
No official suspension has been served to the St.Louis Cardinals organization as the investigation is still pending.
Buster Olney joins Armen and Levack every Thursday at 5:15pm ET on ‘Your Home for New York Yankees Baseball’, 104.5 The Team.
