Huerter to Step Down as Siena Broadcaster After Season

Well, I guess being a Division I broadcaster and watching two sons play Division I basketball at the same time just don't mesh schedule-wise.

That would be the case next year for Siena Saints men's basketball broadcaster Tom Huerter.

Huerter has two sons, Kevin and Tom Jr., who have committed to play D-1 hoops. Kevin is going to Maryland while Tom Jr. is headed to Siena, ironically.

Tom Sr. has announced this will be the last year that he calls game for the Saints, his alma mater.

Huerter also told the Daily Gazette: "I’d like to just be able to go to the games in the future.”

It will be a tough loss for the Capital Region community that has come to enjoy Huerter's commentary, but it's definitely an understandable decision as he'll be able to enjoy both his son's games. He also isn't in the position of having to be critical of Siena when his son is on the roster.
