NFL quarterbacks still suffer a lot of punishment.  Sure, the game is over-officiated, but it's not like QB's don't wake up the next day feeling great.

Fans often say that the National Football League is a two-hand touch league these days.  Fans often say that quarterbacks ought to be wearing skirts because they are coddled by officials.  The game is definitely over-officiated, but it doesn't mean that the game isn't incredibly physical anymore.

The NFL is still a very physical, brutal league.  15 players suffered season-ending injuries this past weekend (Week 10).  Michael Vick didn't suffer two broken ribs on the 2nd play against the Arizona Cardinals because the league is soft.  Big Ben Roethlisberger didn't suffer a broken right thumb against the Cincinnati Bengals because the game is delicate.  Yeah, the game is officiated way too closely much too often, but it doesn't mean the game is soft.  It's far from it.
